Chico
About 2 weeks after we adopted Penelope, my wife saw an ad in the penny saver for an 8 month old ferret. This ferret was with a couple who was sick and wasn’t able to care for him anymore. My wife wanted to bring him to our family, well, I gave in and now there are four.
Chico's, an 8 month old male, who is very friendly and enjoys cuddling. He was very dirty, covered with fleas, and over weight. The couple whom had him prior fed him whole baby carrots, which is harmful to a ferret. This can cause blockage to the ferret's digestive tract since ferrets can not digest vegetables very easy. So far Chico seems to be doing well except for his skin is a bit irritated from getting him flea free.
Chico loves to play with the other ferrets and our dog Blaze. Blaze is a 95 pound black lab. He is very good with playing with the ferrets. Chico has a hard time keeping up due to his weight, but he will drop them pounds in no time. Our children and us give him the care and love he needs to develop into a healthy ferret.
There are many ferrets out there that need a loving home or need special medical attention. If you are interested in helping please adopt or donate to:
11/27/2007 Update.....
Chico is now 9 months old and doing much better. He has lost some weight, and now is able to run around the house without dragging his belly and legs across the floor. He is much more playful, and enjoys going after Blaze. We still have not found a favorite toy for him, but we will find it. Keep watching for updates.
